Australia's tallest living bird, the flightless emu is one of our national symbols and reminds one to stand tall and proud, always move forward and to look at the bigger picture. In Aboriginal mythology, the emu is connected with creation myths, the sky, the stars and the Milky Way.
Using a pattern found in the 1973 Australian Women's Weekly insert "Australian Toys to Make" this emu has been lovingly hand sewn using BioFelt natural fleece and hand dyed felt with matching thread. The emu does stand on it's own however requires a bit of manipulation to get it to balance accordingly.
Can be used for story time, nature tables or imaginative play.
Emu stands 14cm high and is 13cm long.
Suitable for ages 3+
Materials used – 100% wool felt, 100% Australian wool stuffing, cotton thread, pipe cleaners and internal cardboard foot base (for stability).
